The Girl's Cross
Next to Patos City, at the edge of the road that seeks high backwoods through BR-230 highway it is found a sanctuary populary known as "A Cruz da Menina" (The Girl's Cross), place of permanent pilgrimage and local of touristic attraction recently improved with a construction of a modern park built with an aluminium covering (over the chapel, built in memory of the tragedy occured in 1923), ex-votes rooms, candle house, external alter close to a cross with ten metres high, snackbar, souvenirs shops, amphiteatre, walkways, gardens etc. Everyday many pilgrims come of divers countries to visit the place, carrying out vows and confirming the reached blessings. The tragedy of the girl Francisca was used for the making of the novel "A Cruz da Menina" (The Girl's Cross), that is not, nevertheless, a repor novel.
